President Harry Maloney called the meeting to order. Sandy Hearing led the 4 Way Test and Sherry Soutiere, the Pledge of Allegiance. Jay Einstein led the club in prayer.
Sergeant at Arms, Gus Foster introduced our newest member, Joanne Hewes and announced birthdays for the week - Preston Centuolo, Alan Dickinson, Henry Hansen, and David Scales (see full birthday and anniversary list below).
Announcements:
President Harry Maloney shared Rotary’s mission – “Service Above Self” and the fact that Queen Elizabeth was a prime example of this throughout her 70-year reign. Harry also shared that at the recent Gift of Life Event, a Rotarian from our district donated a $20,000 grant for Paul Harris Fellowship for each club that donated $1,000 – our club committed.
Sandy Hearing has Boscovs’ “Friend Helping Friends” coupons available for $5. If we sell all 100, our club makes $500.
Dave Hanrahan updated us on Peddles for Progress – this will be our program subject in 2 weeks. Oct 22nd will be the date to drop off bikes and old “peddle” sewing machines at DNS Solutions located at 2898 S. Main Rd. Vineland – from 9 am-12 pm.
Dave Schad announced that members should save the date for the annual Wreaths of Remembrance (December 10th). Josie Spinelli also announced that there will be a time of fellowship afterwards at the Green Olive in Brdgeton. Josie also reminded everyone of the Jobs Fair beling held at RCSJ (Cumberland Campus) Wednesday 9/21/22 4pm-7pm. Rotary had a table manned by a number of members speaking with potential new members.
Donna Perez announced the Vocational Service Award will be held at a dinner event on November 30th (location TBD) – there were nomination forms available.

9/29 monthly evening meeting 5:45pm at the Green Olive in Vineland. Speakers will be Denise Jackson/Gary Gilmore – discussing Financial topics
10/18 Luncheon – Larry’s II – featured guest speaker - District Governor Michael Thompson!

Josie Spinelli Membership Chair had Maureen Simmons introduce our newest Rotarian Joanne Hewes who was sponsored by Mia Arrison – Maureen gave a brief history of Rotary and then swore Joanne in. Joanne thanked everyone and said she was eager to get involved with the club. Welcome Joanne!
Program:
Jay Einstein and Dave Schad discussed the importance of fundraising. Jay stated that our club spent $56,400 on sponsoring different events that benefit the community & other organizations. He talked about scholarships, wreaths of remembrance, peddles for progress just to name a few. Dave handed out different sponsor sheets and walked us through how we can step up and sponsor our various events. Both stressed the fact that sponsorships do not have to come directly from members. We could get outside sponsors and Jay stated he would be willing to speak with any person/organization if we were not comfortable with the actual “ask”. It was a great reminder of all that our club does throughout the year to help better our community and beyond.

President Harry ended the meeting with a quote that was guessed by Eileen Duffy….answer – Stephen King.
